We are adjustiing to being at home...

We started our adventure on Wednesday morning at the hospital for our scheduled induction. We got there around 6am and they started the pitocin around 7:30am. Our doctor arrived at 9am and broke my water. At that point I was about 2 or 3 cm. By 9:30 am I was about 6 cm and wanted to go ahead and get the epidural. It was about 10:15am when I got the epidural and by 10:40am I was 10 cm and pushing. We pushed and pushed and pushed some more! LJ was definitely more involved than he had planned! Later he told me that he felt a little queasy at first but he got over it quickly when the nurses put him to work. LJ was running to get cool wash clothes for my face, getting ice chips, encouraging me, and even letting me push against him with one of my feet. After taking a 30 min break and recharging - Barnes arrived at 2:17pm.

Louis Barnitz "Barnes" was 8lbs 2 oz and 20 and 3/4 inches long. He is BEAUTIFUL!! We had a wonderful experience at the hospital but we are glad to be at home. Unfortunately his Bilirubin was a little high which indicates that is has jaundice (partly because of the bruise on his head that he got during birth) and we had to go back to the doctor on Saturday.

Saturday his bilirubin had gone up and they put him on the biliblanket. He looks like a little glow worm! We had to go back to the doctor today and it had gone up again so we are getting a bilibead. We aren't exactly sure what this involves. We are going back to the doctor tomorrow for another follow-up and are hopeful that things improve. He also seems to have his days and nights mixed up so things are crazy but LJ and I are so thankful that my mom (GiGi) is here to help! I am not sure what we would do without her.

I will try to keep everyone posted.

LJ was in a wedding on Saturday and I couldn't resist taking a picture of him and Barnes. Barnes has his biliblanket on.

40 Weeks

Today I am offically 40 weeks! Yeah for 40 weeks but where is Barnes? We are ready for him to get here. I am finally swelling and getting more uncomfortable by the minute. It is usually at the end of the day and it doesn't help that I can't sit still. I am so thankful that I have had a wonderful pregnancy but I want my body back!

We are ready to meet this little guy. Who is he going to look like? Is he going to have red hair like LJ or brown hair like me?

Greek Fest, 39 weeks...Counting down

Last Thursday LJ and I went to the Greek Festival. We had such a great time with everyone. We had great food (I tried a few new things) and pastries and some of us got to enjoy wine and beer. We found out our friends Megan and Will, who are due next February, are also having a boy!! Yippee a playmate for Barnes. LJ kept asking will Barnes get a best friend or a girl friend and it looks like a best friend! We can't wait for both of them to get here. Megan and I took a "quick" photo together to mark the occasion. I must say that for some reason I have been kinda anti the profile picture and thought I should at least take one more!

Well this past Sunday I was officially 39 weeks. I am still working full-time but noticing that I am becoming more tired and uncomfortable - Surprise, Surprise! I am so thankful that I have been feeling so well up till now. On Tuesday I want back to the doctor. No changes to report, but my doctor reluctantly scheduled an induction for next Wednesday if Barnes doesn't arrive before then. LJ and I are praying that Barnes arrives on his own before the induction next week. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

Rockin Right Along

Well, not much changed at my doctor's appointment yesterday. My fluid some how doubled which is a good thing but part of me was hoping it was low so they would say lets get you delivered. What they did say is that things are about the same: my weight is the same, still just dilated between 1 and 2, fluid looks good, and evidently they think it is really great that I have braxton hicks and he moves A LOT!

I am ready to join the ranks...my sister Sarah had my precious niece Parker Ann on 8/28. I hate that we couldn't be there to see her but she is beautiful. She was 7lbs 8oz and 20 1/2 inches long. We can't wait to meet her in November!

My best friend Britani had her little girl Avery Sara who was 6 lbs 9 oz and 18 1/2 inches long born Sept 9th. Wish we lived close by so share this time together. I guess we will see her in November as well.

I don't want to rush this special time and I can't wait for Barnes to get here but I am also so excited about seeing Parker and Avery in November.

38 weeks...

Well, today I am officially 38 weeks. I really started to feel uncomfortable last week. Up till this point things have been pretty smooth sailing. I was only getting uncomfortable sleeping and when I tried to do too much but there were a few days last week when I was constantly uncomfortable! I am getting more and more ready to have this baby!

Friday we went to the doctor and had an ultrasound. They say he is about 7lbs 8oz and "the fluid" is good but they want to do another ultra sound on Tuesday to make sure that it stays where it is. I was instructed to rest on today after spending yesterday at the football game. I am trying my best to relax but having trouble! Just cleaned out the pantry and back on the couch.

Well so glad that my last game for a while was a good one. We had a great time at the USC v UGA game yesterday and it is always great to see a win! The weather wasn't too hot and I was so thankful! Loved seeing Laura and Karla - wish we had gotten a little more time with everyone. Wished I had taken more pictures! I just have a few.
